What can I use on painful bumps and rash on the inner thighs and near buttocks area?
There are many skin conditions that could be dangerous. If what is being described is just a minor yet painful rash, simply keeping the area dry with a cornstarch based powder will help. Using ointments and creams may cause more problems than they treat. Start by thoroughly cleansing the area in a warm shower. Start out with cooler water to soothe the bumps. Scrub with a clean washcloth and a mild soap until the area is thoroughly clean. There is no need to scrub hard. The running water of the shower and the gentle scrubbing will exfoliate dead skin cells and wash bacteria down the drain. Dry thoroughly before putting on clothes. Use plain cornstarch or cornstarch based powder for a couple of days. Find the source of the irritation. It could be dye from new clothes, a new soap, a personal hygiene product, sitting too long and sweating or even sexual contact. Irritation can even be caused by a major kidney problem. If it doesn’t go away after removing any source of allergen, and after keeping it clean and dry for a couple of days. Or if symptoms worsen. See a doctor promptly.
